Swine Flu?

Lucy had an infection of the "Influenza A type H1" virus, which was previously known as "Swine Flu". It is this virus which got to her heart and gave her the myocarditis, which turned out to be fatal for Lucy.

We want to ensure that all young children are immunised against the 'flu as a matter of course. Most parents give their children the immunisations which are in the "red book", but the 'flu virus is different. You need to have it every year.

'Flu is not the same as a bad cold

We all know what a cold is: runny nose, blocked nose, sneezing etc. but the 'flu is very different. Many people refer to a really bad cold as the 'flu, but they are usually wrong.

The symptoms of the 'flu include aching limbs, no energy at all, no appetite, often vomiting.

People don't generally die of a bad cold. 'Flu can be a killer, especially for young children and the elderly.
